A Cinderella Halloween

This year, since Alyse is almost two, we decided to dress her up as Cinderella. She loves all of the princesses so we thought it was a perfect fit. The first time we tried the dress on her she hated it. Not a good sign for things to come. So we decided in order to make it work we needed to put a shirt on underneath the costume because we thought it was too itchy for her. Then, despite her initial protests, she wore the costume without complaining.

Why did you put this on me?

I want it off!

I guess I will pose for a picture...

The pictures below are of her adventures at Boo at the Zoo, a trick or treat event put on by the Denver Zoo, and trick or treating in Nona and Papa's neighborhood.
Alyse and Nona walking through the zoo. Alyse's trick or treat bucket came from a McDonald's happy meal. :)

Alyse and Nona looking at the tigers.

Here is a better view of at least one tiger. There were five tigers out that day. Alyse was fascinated by the large "kitty cats."

Daddy and Alyse looking at the tigers.

Alyse eating one of her first treats of the day. This one was a fruit roll up though, so healthier than candy.

Alyse with her candy. She was very possessive of it. If we tried to take it from her, she freaked out. It was her candy and no one else could touch it. The whole time she either kept it in her lap like this or had it above her head, where she would constantly check it to make sure it was still there.

Alyse and Nona. Alyse was getting tired by this point, and not really in the mood to smile. She did just enjoy her lunch with Nona though.  :)

Alyse and Nona right before we went home. There's that smile! Alyse had a lot of fun seeing the animals while getting candy at the various trick or treat stations and Nona enjoyed getting to spend time with Alyse.

On the day of Halloween, we went over to Nona and Papa's house where we had barbecue chicken sandwiches before venturing out to go trick or treating.

This was after Nona added some candy to her pumpkin. Of course she was very protective of it.

Alyse hanging out in her costume.

Alyse playing with Papa in the kitchen. He kept trying to take her juice, but she wouldn't let him. :)

We tried taking this photo multiple times, and every time she would smile after the photo. This is the least angry face of all the photos. At least Mommy and Daddy were smiling for the photo though.

Alyse trick or treating at one of the first houses. (Nona and Papa's)  :)

Alyse carrying her pumpkin and holding Mommy's hand. As the pumpkin got heavier, she let Mommy and Daddy hold it instead. But in the beginning she carried it to every house holding it.

Alyse at another house. She was always hesitant about letting people put candy in her pumpkin, but then she would get excited when she got her candy. Sometimes Mommy or Daddy would have to lift her pumpkin up for her because she held it so closely.

Alyse getting some more candy. Look how full that pumpkin is getting!

Back at Nona and Papa's Alyse dove right in to her candy. She wanted to keep eating it, so we had to limit her to a few pieces.

This piece looks good...

Once she got out of her costume she wanted to read her favorite book at Nona and Papa's: Little Nino's. It is about a little boy whose dad owns a pizzeria. Alyse LOVES this book!

And of course, Mommy had to read "Little Nino's" to Alyse before we left. Alyse loved Halloween this year, so I'm sure next year will be even better. (And maybe she won't be scared of people with masks on next year.)
